Dr. Rachel Niskanen, O.D.

Dr. Rachel Niskanen is a dedicated optometrist with a passion for helping patients achieve their best possible vision. A San Diego native, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, before pursuing her Doctor of Optometry at the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University.

Dr. Niskanen’s extensive clinical training includes externships at leading institutions such as Orange County Retina, VA Ambulatory in Los Angeles, VA Salt Lake City, Coastal Vision, and Ketchum Health. Her diverse experience has equipped her with the skills to diagnose and manage a wide range of eye conditions, with a special focus on ocular disease.

With a career in eye care spanning nearly two decades, Dr. Niskanen has been practicing as an optometrist since 2020. Her lifelong love of science—especially the intricate workings of the eye—fuels her commitment to providing high-quality patient care. She is particularly passionate about educating patients and helping them optimize their vision and eye health.

Beyond the clinic, Dr. Niskanen is dedicated to giving back to the community. She volunteers with Healing California, an organization that provides free eye exams to veterans in need. When she’s not seeing patients, she enjoys hiking and traveling with her husband, daughter, and their two beloved cats.
